Our Wedding

When I headed to a birthday pool party for my friend Mark, on Saturday, June 6, 2020, I never knew how my life would change forever. At the party, I met many new people, but most memorable of them all was this captivating blonde named Candace, that lit up a room with her smile and . The fact that she was gorgeous was also not lost on me! I offered a shot ski to her, her boyfriend at the time, and another couple. About 30 minutes later, I received a very unexpected call from my Mom. On this phone call, I found out that the prognosis for my Dad, who had been in the hospital with an infection, had turned dramatically worse and they were asking for close family to come see my Dad. I quickly left the party to travel to Virginia, for what would be my final few him. Fast forward two months later, which was 3 weeks after my Dad’s memorial service, and the husband of a couple (Charlie & Drew) that I had become friends with, reached out to me to awkwardly ask if I would be open to a “set-up”, that they thought might create a romantic spark, but at the very least, thought we shared a lot of mutual friends and that she and I would become friends as well. I was extremely skeptical at first, but when he shared that it was “Candace from the birthday party,” I was very excited. They suggested we do something casual, so we spent our 1 st date having a boat day with Charlie &Drew, as well as other mutual friends, Darren & Kathryn. The conversation with Candace was so easy and the time together was so much fun. It truly felt like we had known each other forever. And that smile that lit up a room the first time that we met? I came to realize that it lit up every moment that you spend with her. A beautiful day on the water and dinner together at a waterfront restaurant, The Big Catch, became the 1st of many amazing dates together .One date turned into months of dating, fun times, trips together and awesome events with the kids. Along the way of amazing memories and times spent together, we fell in love. In February of 2022, I decided that I was going to propose on Mother’s Day, as we would be in Mexico for a work award trip. Unfortunately, I would break my jaw in four places in April of 2022, and I would have my jawwired shut when we were in Mexico. During the time of the jaw surgeries, we also had a trip scheduled to Napa Valley, which had to be cancelled. We rescheduled the trip for June of 2022, and I decided that June 6th , 2 years to the day from when we met, I would propose. On June 6th , 2022, at the majestic Domaine Carneros Vineyard, I got down on one knee and Candace said “YES”! Alexander Graham Bell said, “When one door closes, another opens”. On June 6th , 2020, God let me know that he was taking a big piece of my heart away. He also opened a door to a love that I never knew existed, with the most amazing woman in the World. That door also had four amazing children behind it, that have blessed me with a family that means the World to us. As we started to plan our wedding for early summer of 2024, Secrets Playa Mujeres had 2 dates available, and one of them was June 6, 2024. We are excited to have you join us for the happiest day of our lives, on what will be the 4-year anniversary of the day we met, and the 2-year anniversary of our engagement day.
